SUNDAY TIMES: Top 500 state secondary schools
Students and staff at Sheringham High School and Sixth Form Centre are delighted that the school has been included in the Sunday Times top 500 state schools for its A-level and GCSE results in 2007. The Sunday Times’ Parent Power list of top performing schools was published on Sunday 18th November with Sheringham High one of four Norfolk state secondary schools to be mentioned - the others being Kind Edward VII (Kings Lynn), Wymondham College and the City of Norwich school.
Tim Roderick, Headteacher said “I’m delighted that the hard work of students and staff has been recognised by the Sunday Times. At GCSE 20% of students achieved A* and A grades and at A-level 46% of students gained A and B grades which is a tremendous achievement.
I was absolutely delighted with this year's A level results. To be in the top 500 state schools nationally is extremely pleasing, particularly as this list of schools includes schools that select by ability.
We have some wonderful students at the school and I was thrilled to see them do so well. Virtually all students went to their university of choice including some of the top universities in the country like Oxford.
Students and their teachers worked extremely hard to achieve these excellent results and it is a very proud day for our school to be recognised by The Sunday Times.'

At Sheringham we aim for excellence for all of our students, whatever their ability. The school provides opportunities for all of its students to fulfill their potential academically as well as in drama, music and sport. We have high expectations for our students and are proud of their many achievements.

In September 2006 we were delighted to celebrate the start of our status as a specialist Arts College.

Our specialist status means that we aim to raise standards across the board and particularly in Drama, Music and English. During the 2006 summer holidays building work was undertaken to turn the school’s hall into a state-of-the-art performance venue as well as creating a new music recording studio.
The Sixth Form continues to grow in size, achieve high standards and to flourish. The development of a successful Sixth Form at Sheringham, with specialist accommodation, now gives students the opportunity to select from a wide range of courses and to continue their studies without having to change schools at 16.
The School has seen many changes in the last few years. New buildings include a music block, drama studio, a modern library (judged ‘excellent’ by OFSTED) as well as a wonderful full size all-weather sports pitch. In the last two years there has been an extensive programme of redecoration and refurbishment of main school corridors, the gym and classrooms.
We now have Interactive Whiteboards in all Mathematics and Modern Languages classrooms, in Geography and History, and data projectors in all Science laboratories. We are developing apace our computer provision to support learning and are delighted to be one of the few Microsoft sponsored schools in the country.
There are three other schools on our campus - something unique in Norfolk. Campus schools include Sheringham Primary and Nursery Schools and Woodfields Special School. The partnership we have with our campus schools has made us a Norfolk flagship for inclusion and we are proud of the many contacts between students and staff of campus schools.
We are a confident and forward-looking community but we are not complacent. We believe strongly in partnership with parents and the wider community and try to be responsive to their needs and comments.
Schools Minister, Jim Knight MP, wrote to the school (11/1/07) congratulating Sheringham High on its 'excellent performance' at GCSE in 2006.
'The results for your school show that you are amongst the top schools this year based on sustained improvement in 5+ A*-C grades (including English and Maths)'.
